In a busy city, where people rushed from one hour to the next, there lived a quiet man named Khalid. He worked as a tailor, sewing clothes in a small shop that barely earned enough to keep his family comfortable.

Every day, customers came and went, demanding quick work, lowering prices, and sometimes even shouting at him. Yet Khalid rarely raised his voice. He had one habit that guided him: when the call to prayer echoed from the mosque nearby, he would put down his needle, wipe his hands, and walk calmly to join the prayer.

Some customers grew angry:

“Can’t you wait until we finish?!”

But Khalid would smile and say softly, “Prayer comes first. If I abandon it, what blessing can I expect in my work?”

One afternoon, a wealthy man entered the shop with an urgent order. He offered Khalid a large sum if he would finish it before the evening. But as Khalid worked, the call to prayer began. Without hesitation, he placed the cloth aside and walked to the mosque.

The wealthy man scoffed. “You’ll lose everything if you waste time like this.”

But Khalid answered: “I would rather lose your money than lose my prayer.”

The man was offended and left angrily. Khalid returned after prayer, quietly continuing his sewing. Days passed, and he heard nothing from the wealthy man.

Then, one morning, the same man returned, but with a different face. He said:

“I went to many tailors, but none treated me fairly. I realized what I saw in you that day was rare — honesty, discipline, and trust in God. I want only you to work for me now, and I will pay you double.”

Khalid lowered his eyes and whispered: “It was never about money. Prayer taught me that what is meant for me will never pass me by.”

From then on, his little shop prospered. But more importantly, Khalid’s story spread, reminding people that prayer is not a burden, but a light that guides, protects, and provides.
