And because of the excessive
sensitivity of the situations we faced,
we kept scratching…
Scratching at the past,
until time flaked away,
and memories bled!
Until a rash
of distances settled in the streets of memory,
which insecticides
and the ointments of oblivion
find it hard to contain.
Or to prevent it
from ceasing to spread!
And we thought we had been cured, but time returned to remind us that some wounds cannot be healed; rather, they leave a mark.
