Communism is a political and economic system that aims to create equality among people. In a communist society, property, factories, and resources are owned by the community or the government instead of individuals. The main idea of communism was developed by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels. They believed that social classes and poverty could disappear if wealth were shared equally. Some countries, such as China and the former Soviet Union, followed communist ideas. Supporters say communism promotes fairness, while critics argue it can limit freedom and economic growth.
