Cruelty is not always a loud explosion; sometimes, it is the cold, echoing silence that follows a broken promise. It is the weight of words meant to bruise and the emptiness of a heart that has forgotten how to feel.
When someone you care about chooses to be cruel, it feels like a betrayal of the soul. It’s the realization that the person who was supposed to be your sanctuary has become the storm. This kind of pain doesn’t just hurt; it changes you. It builds walls where there used to be windows and turns warmth into a cautious chill.
The sting of a sharp tongue may fade, but the ache of being disregarded lingers. Yet, in the midst of that coldness, we must remember: cruelty is a reflection of the giver’s internal void, not the receiver’s worth.
